Welcome!!!
Hey guys!! Welcome to my lifestyle blog: a blog of my day to day life as a college student, living in a house with all my friends! Each week I'm sure I'll have an interesting story, helpful tidbit I've learned living on my own, or even a recipe of something fun I'm making. Before all that, allow me to introduce myself:
My name is Nicoletta Prezioso and I am a Junior at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD. I am currently a Human Services major, but it got a little more complicated last year. One of the requirements for the major was a course titled The Business of the Nonprofit Sector. This course quickly became my favorite and ended up being the class in which I learned the most information in my college career. That said, I fell in love with the Nonprofit Sector. My major is still Human Services, however I am now taking lots of Business, Communications, Sociology, and Marketing courses to provide me with a well rounded experience. I'm not positive what I'll do, but I think that's okay, the world is my oysterπ
I am from Maryland but my family now lives in Pennsylvania. Throughout my life we moved our way through different parts of MD until my Senior year of High School when we ended up in PA. It's grown on me, but Maryland will always be my home! π¦
My family is very Italian and a little Irish. When my grandfather was 26, he immigrated to the United States of America to become a doctor. He met my grandmother who was a nurse at the hospital they both worked at. My grandmother was Irish and wanted to marry an Italian man so that her children would have dark hair. 8 children later and only 1 of them did!
My grandfather was the only one from his family to come to America, so growing up my father would spend months at a time back in Rome with my grandfather's family. When my grandfather passed, he left apartments in Rome to my dad and his siblings, so I have been very blessed myself to get to experience travelling there and seeing family too! I think I've been 13 times and will hopefully get to keep going the rest of my life! I'd love to even move there to do Nonprofit work for a few years after college! My heritage, faith, and family have played a huge role in shaping the person I am.
There is more to me than all of that too and I have lots of stories to share but I will save them for another post! I'm going to implement something in these blogs where I let you know each week something good or bad that is happening in my house. I live in a very old college house right in town, so there's always something... right now, it's mice. ππ
We knew there was a mouse around because one day one of my roommates saw and heard it. When we returned from break, several of my roommates got home to their snacks having been chewed into and mouse droppings in their room. We told our landlord, but the traps he gave us didn't do any good. The other day, I got home to a few of my roommates, frantic in the kitchen because they knew where the mouse was. One got a box and and put it beneath a box of crackers we thought the mouse was in. I pushed the box into the other box and BAM! A little mouse starts jumping around in the box and we quickly took it outside. We thought our problem was solved until the next day...
There was a lot of snow last Sunday, so some of my roommates and I were sitting in the family room watching TV. All of the sudden, one of them yelled she had seen the mouse behind the couch. We all jumped up to stand on our chairs and watched the mouse run back and forth and then behind our heater. We flipped over the chairs and made a barricade of boxes. We stood with brooms and field hockey sticks, played mouse sounds on our speaker, and threw a piece of cheese on the floor to try and lure it out. We would watch it come out and then dart back in. This added a little excitement to our snow day but got old pretty quickly when someone saw a separate mouse in the hallway! We got the hall one but saw several others throughout the evening.
To make a long story short, an exterminator came but just set up more traps and we still see mice daily π they could be like pets if they weren't so gross and eating our food! I'll let you know what happens next....
Anyway, if you made it this far, thanks for reading! I'm Nicoletta and I'm just happy to be here π€ HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! ❤
